Your speech, with the timing in it

Step 1: Personal Background & Story

Step 1: Personal Background & Story (Ethos & Pathos Hook)

Open immediately with a personal story or defining life experience. Skip generic intros ('Hi, I'm X from Y'). Stories are remembered 22x better than plain facts.

  • Show, don't tell: Don't just say 'I am persistent', tell a story that proves your persistence.
  • Human Connection: Share a vulnerable childhood memory, a mentor's advice, or a career turning point.
Example ('Operation Hamster'): 'When I was 9, I wasn't allowed to have pets. So I launched Operation Hamster and hid them in my closet. It taught me early on how creative and persistent I am...'

Step 2: Audience & Problem

Step 2: Audience Struggle (Empathy Filter)

Apply the empathy filter: 'If you were in the customer's shoes...'. Tailor your tone to the audience persona:

  • Monkey: Seeks recognition & appreciation for their work.
  • Sheep: Desires belonging, safety, and team consensus.
  • Lion: Wants direct ROI, speed, and efficiency.
  • Owl: Wants structure, data, and clear logic.
Example Struggle: 'Sales managers don't struggle with lack of product info—they struggle with teams running 40 boring slides while the client checks their phone after 2 minutes.'

Step 3: Novel Insight

Step 3: Novel Insight (Logos & Novelty)

The human brain craves novelty. Define 1 One Key Message and share a fresh perspective that challenges assumptions.

  • Focus: Don't clutter your pitch with 10 random benefits; anchor everything on 1 surprising angle.
  • Rule of 3: Support your insight with at most 3 clear key arguments.
Example Insight: 'Presenting is not about content—it's about contact. Once you stop broadcasting and start connecting, your pitch conversion rises by 300%.'

Step 4: The Wow Moment

Step 4: The Wow Moment (Jaw-Dropping Delivery)

Create an unforgettable stage moment by pairing narrative with physical props or dramatic visual anchors.

  • Physical Props: Bring an object (like Bill Gates releasing mosquitoes or Steve Jobs with the manilla envelope).
  • Posture & Silence: Stand firmly, anchor your hands with a clicker/marker, and pause for 3 full seconds after your key line.
Example Wow Moment: 'Pull a physical key out of your pocket, place it on the table, and say: This is the key that permanently unlocks our clients' growth.'

Step 5: Pitch Length

Step 5: Length & Call to Action (Bookending Technique)

Keep 30-second pitches to 80-90 words (8-10 sentences). Use Bookending to close the loop.

  • Bookending: Pose a question or symbol in sentence 1, and answer/resolve it explicitly in your final sentence.
  • Actionable Closure: Avoid weak endings ('Thanks for listening'). Ask directly for the next step.
Bookending Example: Opening: 'How do you keep an audience hooked on your every word?' -> Closure: 'With Operation Hamster, I learned that personal stories unlock everything. What is your next story? Let's start today.'
